Sharp introduced the flagship smartphone Aquos R7. Its main feature was the concept of “one big camera” – the use of only one photomodule instead of several, but very large and interesting in terms of its characteristics. Like last year, we are talking about a 1″ camera with Leica optics, but this time the resolution is not a modest 20 megapixels, but a more modern 47 megapixels. The pixel size, however, still remained impressive: 1.6 microns. In addition , Sharp used a Quad Bayer sensor, so the main shooting mode is 11.2 megapixels with 3.2 micron pixels.
The new sensor supports Octa Pixel’s phase detection autofocus, which the manufacturer claims is twice as fast as the previous generation’s ToF camera. This means that the ToF camera is no longer needed, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor has come in its place, the purpose of which in a flagship smartphone is completely incomprehensible. Another thing Sharp is proud of in the Aquos R7 is the Pro IGZO OLED display, but as we know from the Aquos R6, there’s really nothing to be proud of (Black Frame Insertion technology is in place, so your eyes will hurt). The display diagonal is 6.6″, the resolution is 2730×1260 pixels.
Among other characteristics, we note the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal memory, a 5000 mAh battery with support for wireless charging, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, NFC, IP68 water resistance and an ultrasonic scanner built into the screen fingerprint Qualcomm Sonic 3D Max, designed to read two prints simultaneously. Smartphone sales will begin in July, two colors are provided – dark and silver.
