Microsoft has begun rolling out the first major update to Windows 11, known as the Windows 11 2022 Update. This version includes several new features and improvements.
Thus, much attention is paid to the productivity of work. New features are designed to improve productivity, such as the anchor bar that appears at the top of the screen when you move a window, making it easier for mouse users to launch anchor layouts. The Start menu now has folders and a customizable pinned area.
The taskbar has its own innovations. Pop-ups like the Notification Center now have a Do Not Disturb button and quick access to the focus timer mode. You can also view and manage Bluetooth devices directly from the Windows 11 Control Center.
In the next few weeks, Microsoft plans to expand support for Windows Subsystem for Android to version 31. The Microsoft Store adds the ability to search for Android apps, the ability to restore apps with one click, and view screenshots in search results.
Windows 11 2022 Update brings Live Captions and Voice Access features. Live Captions allows you to enable subtitles for any video or audio content, even if such content does not have subtitles. Voice Access allows you to fully control your computer with your voice, without using a keyboard or mouse.
Windows 11 2022 Update also brings a number of gaming innovations. The new Controller Panel (accessed by pressing the Xbox button on your controller) provides quick access to recently played games and game launchers.
DirectX 10 and 11 games running on windows will have “significantly improved display latency.” They will also receive improved Auto HDR and VRR (before the update, these features only worked in full screen mode.
Windows 11 2022 Update includes a new HDR Calibration app that allows users to improve color accuracy and content consistency on HDR displays. At the same time, support for existing AutoHDR, DirectX 12 Ultimate, and DirectStorage features has been improved.
Additionally, Microsoft is changing how often Windows 11 feature updates are released. In addition to the annual fall feature update, the company intends to release small interim updates. So, as early as next month, an update is planned to be released with features such as tabs in File Explorer and a new menu of suggested actions.
Windows 11 users can already install Windows 11 2022 Update via Windows Update. Although Microsoft warns that the rollout of version 22H2 is being done in a measured and phased manner, so some users will have to wait longer than others.
Windows 10 users can also upgrade directly to version 22H2 through Windows Update. The system requirements for this version have not changed. So only those users whose systems are ready for Windows 11 will receive the offer to install Windows 11 2022 Update.
