The war between Russia and Ukraine has been going on for more than two months. In such circumstances, many people have ceased to pay enough attention to their own health.
Restoring lost health is difficult, difficult, and sometimes very expensive.
What to do to maintain health during the war, advise the National Health Service of Ukraine.
Step 1: Take care of your mental health
To do this, we advise you to consume information in a dosed manner and only from official sources, do your daily home routine, plan your future life, following the rules of small steps. If you need psychological help, do not hesitate to contact a psychologist. By the way,
The “hot line” of the Ministry of Health at 0 800 211 444 offers qualified free psychological assistance. She works from 9 am to 6 pm on weekdays and from 10 am to 5 pm on weekends.
Step 2. If you can’t start with yourself, start with the help of others.
For example, help relatives or friends near you. Find out if they need medical attention. Find out where and how they can get the medical care they need and how the rules for providing it have changed during the war. For more information, you can call the NSZU contact center at 16-77. Also, if necessary, help older relatives get “Affordable Medicines” by electronic prescription.
Step 3. Get advice from your family doctor on healthy eating and physical activity and follow these recommendations
The path to a healthy life begins with simple things – from moving in the morning, from reviewing the daily diet in relation to more healthy foods. Ask your family doctor for advice on healthy living – this is included in the list of free primary care services. Follow his advice – and very soon you will feel that much more strength has appeared.
If you or your doctor has moved, you can contact him by phone, instant messengers, mail. Or, visit a specialist at the nearest primary care facility. It is not necessary to conclude a new declaration for this.
Step 4: Keep track of important health metrics
During prolonged stress, chronic diseases are exacerbated. However, in stress, a person feels his physical needs worse, so he may not even notice the changes. Therefore, we remind you of the need to regularly measure blood pressure for those who experience problems with the cardiovascular system, to control sugar for people with diabetes. If you don’t have what you need, contact your family doctor.
Step 5. Take “Available Medicine” as prescribed by your doctor continuously
The National Health Service makes sure that medical services are available to Ukrainians regardless of their location. If you have moved to a safer location, you can ask your doctor to write an electronic prescription for Affordable Medicine over the phone.
Alternatively, a doctor at the nearest primary care facility may write a prescription. If there is no access to the electronic medical system, he will be able to write out a paper prescription.
Step 6. Don’t Delay Your Visit – See the Doctors You Need
If you are safe, take care of the medical procedures that should have been done before the war and postponed due to the war. If before the war they needed certain examinations, take a referral and go through them. If you already have a referral to a specialist or study, call the NHSU contact center to find out the location of the nearest institution that has resources and where a specialist is needed.
If a planned medical operation is required, take a referral from the attending physician and ask the NSZU contact center for a list of institutions that perform the necessary operations during martial law.
Remember, the medical guarantee program works in Ukraine despite the war. You can get free quality medical care when you need it.
