The Ukrainian group and the British artist presented a musical collaboration.
British artist Ed Sheeran and the Ukrainian group “Antityla” presented a common song 2 step / “Lilacs interrupted our dream”, in which Ukrainian and English were heard.
The musicians also released a video for this composition, which was filmed without the full participation of the group, since its members defend their homeland, being in territorial defense.
Sheeran filmed his part of the video for the song last November in Kyiv. Filming took place on the territory of the buildings of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.
“Ed’s offer to work together is a manifestation of exactly the genuine support for Ukraine that the people of Great Britain demonstrate … Millions of people, not only in words, but in concrete actions, show how it is to truly stand up for your principles, democracy and freedom and substitute your own a shoulder to those who really need it. It would seem that it’s just a common song, but how symbolic it is, “says the band’s frontman Taras Topolya.
In the Ukrainian lyrics of the single, Topolya tells the story of how the war started for his family and the promise to return. A similar fate befell hundreds of Ukrainian families who were separated by a terrible war.
Sheeran will transfer the funds raised from the monetization of the video to humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
Recall that the Antitila group met Sheeran in March 2022 while preparing for a charity concert in support of Ukraine in Birmingham. Then the Ukrainian group was offered to organize a teleconference with Kyiv, and the video of their appeal to the British singer became viral in the UK. The organizers refused the Antitila group. And Shiran, despite this, became interested in Ukrainian musicians and expressed his support.
