Employees of the 9to5Google edition found confirmation inside the Pixel launcher that Google plans to implement the ability to search not only in its own search engine, but also inside its own branded applications. This is indicated by the lines of code obtained after decompiling the latest version of the launcher:
At the moment, the search bar from Google only allows you to search for applications installed on your smartphone, and on Pixel smartphones, you can also search for files in the internal storage. But now we are talking about new ways to use the Google search bar. For example, the owner of the device does not have to open Google Play to download an application or game – it will be enough to enter the name into the search widget. The same can be done with the route on the maps, videos on YouTube or in the system settings.
It is not known for certain when the updated search capabilities will appear on Google Pixel owners and whether they will work on other Android smartphones.
