In the royal chambers again it is not calm. Western media reports that an intruder entered the barracks of Windosor Castle last Wednesday. The man spent the night with the royal guards, pretending to be a priest.
After the truth was revealed that he was no priest, a serious investigation began. Fortunately, on this day, when the incident happened, Her Majesty was in Sandringham , and nothing threatened her safety.
Edition Mirror tells the details of the incident. At the gate, a man who pretended to be a priest approached the soldiers. He was allowed to spend the night, invited to eat in the officers’ canteen, despite the fact that he did not have an identity card.
The alarm was raised only the next morning, after breakfast was served to the attacker. The police escorted him out of the premises 16 hours after his first arrival. The 96-year-old Queen returned to Windsor a few hours later.
The UK Ministry of Defense is trying to establish how the error occurred yesterday. “The Army takes this security breach very seriously and it will be thoroughly investigated as a matter of priority. This incident is now part of an ongoing investigation and it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time,” the statement said.
The barracks are located 250 meters from Windsor Castle, where the guards guard the monarch and perform ceremonial duties.
