Yesterday, an interesting promotion was announced on the Instagram account of Queen Elizabeth II on the eve of the celebration of her platinum anniversary.
Starting yesterday and every day for the next 70 days, the Queen’s blog will feature “photos of the day” , each representing one of the years of Her Majesty’s 70 year reign.
Today, a new photo from the royal archives was published on the blog. The picture was taken in 1992. Her Majesty meets German schoolchildren while walking with President Dr. Richard von Weizsäcker in Berlin after passing through the Brandenburg Gate.
“In 1992, Betty Boothroyd was elected as the first woman to serve as Speaker of the House of Commons. Over the next 70 days, as we count down to the #PlatinumJubilee Celebration Weekend, we’ll be posting pictures of the Queen’s Day, each representing a year in her 70th reign. Majesty,” the caption says.
Recall, we wrote earlier that there were concerns about whether Queen Elizabeth II would be able to step onto the balcony of Buckingham Palace and wave to her subjects, which would mark the finale of the celebration of her platinum anniversary of reign.
