Emmanuel Macron, re-elected president, begins his second term.
Macron’s inauguration took place at the Elysee Palace on Saturday, May 7. After the announcement of the official result of the elections by the head of the French Constitutional Council, Laurent Fabius, he was declared Grand Master of the Legion of Honor. Macron was presented with the gold chain of the order.
He will start his second mandate on May 14, according to France24 .
The inaugural speech of the President of France was held under the slogan “Serve!”. He stressed that the people did not renew the mandate from May 2017, but “entrusted the new president with a new mandate.”
During the speech, the politician said: in his plans – the leadership of the state “new method”, “planning, reforming and uniting” the French. He promised to put the country’s ecology and independence at the center of attention for the next five years of his reign.
“We must work tirelessly to make France a more independent nation and build our French and European responses to the challenges of our century,” said Emmanuel Macron. At the end of the speech, he added: “I owe the French people for their trust. Each new day of the mandate I will have only one guideline: to serve ..”
In his inaugural speech, Macron also mentioned Russia’s war against Ukraine. The French leader urged to resort to all necessary actions to avoid escalation. In addition, he stressed the need to “help democracy and courage” win and build a new world in Europe.
As reported, the President of the French Constitutional Council, Laurent Fabius, on April 27 officially declared Emmanuel Macron the President of the Republic, since during the second round of the presidential elections he received an absolute majority of votes – 58.55%.
