Miners have learned to completely remove LHR protection from GeForce RTX 3000 series video cards

The developers of the NiceHash service announced the creation of an algorithm that unlocks the mining potential of GeForce RTX 30-series LHR video cards by 100%. Thus, the restrictions for cryptocurrency mining previously introduced by Nvidia in gaming video cards have lost any meaning.

Recall that according to the plan of NVIDIA, the LHR algorithm built into GeForce RTX 30-series video cards should slow them down by half when mining Ethereum cryptocurrency and other altcoins. Initially, video cards of this series were produced without such an algorithm. However, a little later, under pressure from gamers, NVIDIA began to artificially limit the speed of mining. The first video card to receive LHR protection was the GeForce RTX 3060. But after some time, NVIDIA itself mistakenly released a graphics driver that allowed you to bypass all the restrictions. Therefore, the company had to rework the LHR algorithm and add it to all GeForce RTX 3000 models. The only exception was the flagship GeForce RTX 3090 accelerator – mining performance was not reduced in it.

The NiceHash development team was one of the first to partially unlock the performance of NVIDIA LHR video cards in mining, increasing their efficiency to 70% of the potential. The corresponding software was released in August last year. And now, after 9 months, they have learned to bypass the lock completely. It was possible to return all possible mining performance for most of the GeForce RTX 30 series LHR video cards. The only exceptions are the GeForce RTX 3050 and GeForce RTX 3080 12GB models, which probably use a more advanced version of the protective mechanism compared to other models in the series. So far it hasn’t been cracked.

Mining blocking bypass works only on the Windows operating system and only supports the DaggerHashimoto (Etash) algorithm used in Ethereum mining.

“We are pleased to announce that NiceHash QuickMiner (Excavator) is the first mining software that fully (100%) unlocks LHR cards. Now, when using NiceHash QuickMiner, you can get more profit from LHR graphics accelerators than with any other miner software. Support for the NiceHash Miner is coming soon ,” said the NiceHash team.

Full unlocking of LHR accelerators has already been confirmed by the Benchmark.pl team. They achieved performance from the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti at the level of 117 Mhash / s instead of 85-88 Mhash / s as it was before. This allows you to raise the current profitability of this video card when mining Ethereum up to $4 per day.
