As promised , on May 10 , as part of the Monster Hunter Digital Event , publisher and developer Capcom shared details of the new monsters and gameplay mechanics in the massive Sunbreak add – on for its Monster Hunter Rise action RPG .
As it became known, the ancient dragon Malzeno, introduced during the last episode of the Monster Hunter Digital Event , controls a swarm of parasites that absorb the energy of its victim, and is also able to transform into an “even more terrifying form” .
In addition, the developers talked about three more monsters that will appear in Sunbreak: the flying wyvern Seregios, familiar from previous installments, and newcomers to the franchise, the frost wyrm Aurora Somnacanth and the fiery leviathan Magma Almudron.
In terms of gameplay mechanics, in Sunbreak, players will learn to assign substitution skills to two different sets of equipment in order to switch (during this action, you can dodge) between them on the fly.
Also debuting a new type of interaction with NPCs in Sunbreak is Follower Quests. These solo hunts will allow players to complete missions with their favorite story characters.
It was previously reported that Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak will send hunters to a remote kingdom to study powerful beings known as the “Three Lords” (Malzeno, Lunagaron, Garangolm).
Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak will go on sale June 30 this year for PC (Steam) and Nintendo Switch. Pre-orders have already started on both platforms, but they are not available in Russia due to restrictions.
