Sony has published a financial report from which you can find out information about the sales of the current, but still not available in the free sale of the PlayStation 5, and the “pastegen” of the PlayStation 4 console, as well as the number of console users buying a PS Plus subscription, and a rather alarming sales situation games.

During the last quarter (January to March), Sony sold 2 million PlayStation 5 consoles worldwide and only 100,000 PlayStation 4 consoles. 117 million units, while the fresh PS5 has sold 19.3 million units throughout its existence.

From the beginning of this year to the end of March, the company has sold over 70.5 million PS5 and PS4 games combined. If this figure is compared with the same period last year, it turned out to be 10.1 million more games sold – last year, gamers bought a little more than 60.4 million games. But for all of fiscal 2021, PS4 and PS5 game sales totaled only 303.2 million units, down 35 million from 2020.

Last quarter, Sony sold 14.5 million digital and physical copies of its studios’ games. However, sales of Sony’s own games for the year also declined – from 58.4 million to 43.9 million copies. This may be one of the main reasons why Sony finally decided to create their own subscription service . It also turned out that projects in digital form are less willing to buy – such versions account for 71% of sales against 79% last year, but the overall picture for the year remained positive – 66% against 65%.

As for the PS Plus subscription, as of March 31, 2022, the total number of its users was 47.4 million players, which is 200 thousand users less than last year. The full version of the report can be found here .
