British Prime Minister Boris Johnson sees no sign of normalizing relations with Russian President Vladimir Putin after he attacked Ukraine and is committing genocide against Ukrainians.
He stressed that the resumption of international relations is impossible, even if the Russian dictator repents.
The Prime Minister of Great Britain announced this in an interview with LBC Radio.
“Repentance is going to be very hard for Vladimir Putin now… I believe nothing is impossible, but I just can’t understand for the rest of my life how we can normalize relations with Putin now,” Johnson told reporters who asked if he could welcome Putin on the world stage if he repents.
The British prime minister noted that the world could make the mistake of repeating 2014, when Russia seized Crimea, if it normalizes diplomatic relations with Putin.
“The world basically said it was terrible. We condemn it, we don’t accept it – and we did it. And we imposed sanctions. But at the same time, we started talking to him about how to move on. And Putin basically used it as way to twist the knife” If the Ukrainians were to make any deal with Putin now, the risk would be that he would do the same, and they know it, so the short answer is no. No normalization, and the UK knows it very clearly ” — Johnson emphasized.
As previously reported, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine marks the end of the post-Cold War era.
