Google Chrome for Android stopped updating for users from Russia

Russian users of Android devices are faced with the inability to update the Chrome browser through the Play Store. Apparently, Google has introduced restrictions for the Russian Federation, although there is no official confirmation of this.

When you try to update Google Chrome, the system displays the message “Failed to install the application” and blocks the download of a new version of the web browser. The same error occurs when trying to update the Android System WebView component. The problem is widespread and does not depend on the version of the Android operating system, as well as the model of the device used. It is possible that there is a technical problem on the side of the Play Store app store. Google has not commented on this issue yet.

Earlier, we recall, Google introduced additional restrictions for users of its digital content store in the Russian Federation – the company banned the download and update of paid applications in the Russian Play Store. At the same time, downloading free software and installing updates for it remained available. In the case of the Chrome browser, it turns out that this is far from the case.

Google itself has repeatedly emphasized that the current situation continues to evolve rapidly, and changes may be made to the company’s policy in the future. Google promised to notify users of all innovations on the support page.

If you notice an error, select it with the mouse and press CTRL + ENTER.
