A huge number of smartphone owners use paid subscriptions in applications. At the same time, for a long time, the App Store had a rule according to which, in the event of an increase in the price of a subscription, users were asked for permission to renew it under new conditions. Now, Apple suddenly decided to change the rules of the game: from now on, applications can write off increased amounts from the account at the new rates automatically . Of course, Apple, which receives a commission from each payment, submits this under a good pretext, calling it a simplification in the name of convenience – supposedly, until this day, users could not notice that one of their subscriptions stopped working without receiving confirmation. Now this is in the past: everything will happen in the background without the user asking.
To avoid funny situations, automatic renewal with price increase still has certain limits: no more than once a year and no more than $5 and 50% of the subscription price ($50 in case of annual subscriptions). If the price increase exceeds these limits, then the old rule will apply: the user will be asked for consent.
