Sleeping area Yasenevo and the "crown of Moscow"

Yasenevo is a classic Soviet sleeping area. The area became part of the city in 1960. Active development took place in the 70-80s. The subway was opened in 1990. I have been there many times, and recently I rode bicycles to the highest point in Moscow.

When I looked at the map, I saw the curves of residential buildings. It became interesting how they look in reality. It turned out to be an ordinary panel 9-storey building, such a long 18-entrance building with 637 apartments. The second is divided by a passage into two buildings. Symmetrically in mirror image, there are a couple of such houses-bends.

Residential complex “Novoyasenevsky”. He looks cute to me. In any case, it does not cause horror, like many modern new buildings. Construction began in February 2009, the house was handed over in December 2014. The project provides for 1-, 2-, 3-, 4- and 5-room apartments. The smallest area is 45 sq. meters, large – 250 sq. meters. Upstairs penthouses: 21st floor – penthouses with terraces, 22nd – penthouses without terraces, 23rd – penthouses with double light. Business class housing.

There are two sculptures near the subway. One is called “Motherhood”, popularly “Woman-TV”, the second – “Soaring”, looks creepy. They say the work of Burganov, but this is not accurate.

I was lucky, I met an unmanned taxi. This is a Yandex service, testing is carried out in the Yasenevo area. A specially trained person sits in the driver’s seat, but he does not hold on to the steering wheel, the car is controlled by a computer.

This place is marked on the map as Kim Philby Square. To my shame, I don’t know who he is. I had to ask Yandex. It turns out that a communist and head of British intelligence, a Soviet agent. The name was given to the square in November 2018. To be honest, it doesn’t really look like a square in the broadest sense of the word. There is parking and a weekend fair. But on the other hand, the location served as an occasion for expanding my horizons.

We are moving towards Teply Stan. Along the way, you come across Soviet residential buildings of different series. This is P-3, there is II-49D. On the outskirts of the forest park area, the LES apartment complex is being built. In general, a volleyball center “Spartak” with a hotel was planned in its place.

Closer to Teply Stan, the area visually changes and the contingent is completely different. Feels like I’m in the 90s. There are several shopping centers near the metro: Prince Plaza, Twin Plaza, Spectrum. Around talking signs: cafe “Vstrecha”, shaurma, halal, teahouse, pawnshop and many people of non-Slavic appearance. It was as if he had crossed an invisible border and entered another world. I saw some unfinished tower on the horizon, it would be interesting to go and see what it is.

This is the “crown of Moscow”, its highest point is 254.6 meters above sea level. Until recently, a triangulation sign was located here – the reference benchmark of the State Geodetic Network, now there is paid parking and a power line support.

The unfinished tower haunted me, we reached it. The place, of course, is atas, there are garages and car services around, such an under-industrial zone. In the middle of it all, an unfinished communication center. Underground is a bunker, several levels of which are rented by a paintball club, the rest, they say, is flooded. The radio relay tower has been standing in this form since the 80s, the height is 47 meters. It is currently used to house equipment by mobile operators.

We rode Velobike bicycles. The hour was coming to an end. There is nowhere to update the free period near the Tyoply Stan metro station, there are no rental stations there. But in Yasenevo there are two. In short, they rushed back. We went the other way, at the same time we looked at how all this beauty looks in reality. The area was built according to the plan, residential buildings are located symmetrically to each other, in each yard there is a kindergarten or a school. Between Tarusskaya and Yasnogorskaya streets there is an undeveloped area that looks just like a large clearing. Once upon a time there was a ravine in this place, in which a river flowed. The ravine was filled up during the construction of the metro, and the river was enclosed in a collector. Now slowly began to build up, there will be a sports complex.

And in Yasenevo there is a water park. Now it is called Moreon, earlier in its place was the infamous Transvaal Park. The building had a large beautiful glass dome, which collapsed one day. For me, this is a mystical story. It was February 14, 2004, Valentine’s Day, romance and all. Just the day before, I wrote a post saying that I really want to go. The next evening, friends suddenly began to call and write to me, they wanted to know if everything was in order with me. That’s how I learned about the tragedy. It is still unknown what caused it, a design error or some external influence. A chapel was erected to commemorate the event. After 9 years, a new water park opened.

Twelve identical Soviet 22-story buildings built along the street. On the one hand, it is called Yasnogorskaya, on the other, Tarusskaya. Between them is the same wasteland on which the sports complex is being built. From this side they chopped off a piece for parking. The blue Soviet human stands were built in the 1980s. At the end of each row, on the right and left, at the very corner, they stuck another tower. This is approximately 2011-2012. I think they will soon start building up a wasteland between the houses.

The Yasenevo district is surrounded by forests and parks: the Uzkoye estate, Bitsevsky forest, Butovsky forest park. Previously, it was the village of Yasenevo, the name of which is most likely associated with the alleged non-calendar personal name Yasen. And I always thought that in this area there were a lot of ash trees, in the sense of trees 🙂
