Following the older Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ chipset, Qualcomm presented the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1. This is a sub-flagship solution produced by Samsung using the 4nm process technology. Architecturally, the chip consists of 8 cores: four Cortex-A710 (up to 2.36 GHz) and the same number of Cortex-A510 (up to 1.8 GHz). It also includes Adreno 662 graphics accelerator, AI engine and Snapdragon X62 5G modem with Fast Connect 6900 system. Special mention should be made of Qualcomm Spectra 14-bit ISP (image processor) supporting 200-megapixel cameras and 4K HDR video recording with a frequency of 30fps, as well as slo-mo 720p@480fps.
Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 supports top-end LPDDR5 memory (up to 16GB) and UFS 3.1, FHD+ (up to 144Hz) and QHD+ (60Hz) screens. Qualcomm vaguely stated that graphics performance has increased by 20% over a certain predecessor – according to WhyLab, we are talking about Snapdragon 778G, and not about the much more powerful Snapdragon 780G. By the way, OPPO, Honor and Xiaomi have already officially announced their intention to release smartphones based on Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 in the near future.
