Qualcomm held a presentation of the new flagship Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset manufactured by TSMC. From the previous Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 , manufactured by Samsung, the new product has no architectural differences, but it differs markedly in performance and operating frequencies due to all sorts of optimizations. According to Qualcomm, CPU and GPU performance increased by 10% due to higher frequencies while reducing power consumption by 30% here and there. So, the super-powerful Cortex-X2 core now reaches 3.2 GHz, the Cortex-A710 triple – 2.75 GHz, and the energy-efficient Cortex-A510 – 2.0 GHz. The graphics core is the same – Adreno 730, as is the Snapdragon X65 5G modem with the Fast Connect 6900 system. The overall energy efficiency of the novelty is improved by 15% compared to 8 Gen 1.
Qualcomm claims that with 60 minutes of playing Genshin Impact, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 produces an average frame rate of 60.2 fps (though at 810p resolution). In addition, the AI engine has become 20% more energy efficient. The first smartphones with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 will appear on board in the very near future.
