The Ukrainian freelance service Freelancehunt conducted research and determined which banks had the highest demand from performers in 2021, and also analyzed how these indicators changed during the war.
The top five banks used by freelancers in Ukraine have not changed. The leading place is still occupied by PrivatBank, but it is losing ground – in 2021 it was preferred by 11.5% of users less. If in 2020, 72.2% of freelance performers used the services of the bank, then in 2021 – 60.61%. During the war, this figure dropped to 54.2%.
The clear leader in terms of growth is monobank. In 2021, 31.39% of freelancers used it, and in 2018, only 6.4% of freelancers used it. Since that time, the number has grown significantly. Only during the war do we see an increase in popularity to 38.6%.
Rounding out the top five are Oschadbank, Alfa-Bank and Raiffeisenbank. Over the past year and during the war, their popularity has not changed much.
Freelancehunt notes an increase in the number of registrations of Ukrainian freelancers on the service, which in April were higher than pre-war figures. Monobank’s rise in popularity among performers is partly due to the influx of new freelancers who previously used the bank.
Among customers, as well as among freelancers, PrivatBank and monobank had the greatest demand. But if in 2020 68.3% of customers preferred PrivatBank, and in 2021 – 60.5%, then during the war the share decreased to 52.53%. But the popularity of monobank is growing rapidly: the 2021 figure of 24.69% only during the war increased to 30.93%.
Raiffeisenbank became less popular – it was chosen by 1.02% of customers during the war period, Alfa-Bank – 0.8% and UkrSibbank – 0.62%. For all three banks, there is a slight drop in indicators when compared with 2021.
According to Freelancehunt, the freelancing market in Ukraine continues to grow, especially among small and medium-sized businesses. Freelancehunt has reached the level of 72% in projects from pre-war indicators and plans only to increase volumes by attracting customers from the US and Europe.
