In many cities, the station is an ornament of the city, and the station square is a significant place. It’s not like that in Yelets. I’ve been to many places, but this is the first time I’ve seen this. There is no station square at all. And the station itself, dumb and uncomfortable.
Firstly, all sockets in the waiting room are sealed. It says “Sealed” and that’s it. There is one, under it there is a shelf for a smartphone and there is a sheet with a warning about scammers. There is no place to sit next to. How passengers share the only source of electricity is unknown.
Secondly, the seats are metal, you sit down, your ass is immediately cold. This problem is solved, in the next waiting room the seats are normal. But there is no outlet.
Thirdly, the station is located on the outskirts. For a sense of scale: walk to the center for 45-50 minutes. For a small town, this is nonsense. It’s the first time I meet this.
But the most important feature that made a lasting impression on me: the station building is located between the railway tracks! It is surrounded on all sides by rails!
When I arrived, Yandex laid out some absolutely hellish route for me. I walked to the end of the platform, then along the tracks. That is, I was in the middle of the paths, they were both on the right and on the left. There were many! Then it was necessary to go between the office buildings and all sorts of depots, climb the stairs and walk along the bridge over all these freight trains. The bridge is not straight, it has turns. I’ll admit, it was a little uncomfortable. But then it was light, and I even met people, three people. In the evening, Yandex suggested the same route. Well, no, I can’t go for it.
Decided to try another option. Yandex says: go past the beach, along the river, then climb the railway (!) bridge and voila, in 10 minutes you are at the station. Okay, I think I’ll go take a look. In short, the beach is torn up by excavators, there is a construction site, and further along the river is not a promenade, as one might imagine, but just a path. To the right is water, to the left are trees, and, of course, nothing is illuminated.
Fuck it, I thought, and went on down the street. Yandex repaved the route, like nichotak, past residential buildings, normally. True longer, but there’s nothing you can do about it.
I’m going, I mean. The residences are finished. Ahead – the end of civilization and railway bridges. A couple walks towards me, I ask them if I’m going there. They nodded, they said, there, under the bridges and further along the road, where the cars go.
I go further. Industrial area, car service, checkpoint Yeletsizvest, mdya. However, a regular bus drove past me, which means that it’s not quite the wilderness. Yandex stubbornly led me along the rails. I resisted. I thought that I would reach the bus station, there must be a passage to the railway station. I came across a Magnit store, went to buy water and at the same time clarify how / where to go. The cashier girl said that there is a passage, but it’s better for me not to go there at night. She sent me back around. It turns out that I was passing the right place, but refused to believe that I was there. But I needed to go there. And this is the most normal way of all.
In general, SUCH. Yelets itself is good, but I don’t want to come there anymore.
P.S. The text was written on the train, when the impressions were still fresh. Now let go, but it was really dumb.
