Today’s review is dedicated to a compact and inexpensive Bluetooth speaker from Tronsmart. The Trip model fits in your pocket, yet has 10W of power, 20 hours of battery life and IPX7 water resistance.

Appearance and interfaces

Several bright colors of the model are available (both the color of the fabric and the color of the logo change) – I have a black fabric and a gray logo.

The novelty is made in a plastic case, covered with a synthetic fabric with a large texture. On the front, under the plastic logo, there are a pair of speakers and a passive radiator. The fact that there are two speakers in such a small (169.5 x 81 x 40.7 mm) case is a plus. This was done, of course, not to obtain a stereo base, but to increase the sound pressure. Full stereo can be obtained using only a pair of such speakers by combining them in TWS mode.

To simplify life with a column, there is a loop of a rather thick lace, you can hang it outdoors or attach it to a backpack. And below the rubber feet for a stable position on a horizontal surface.

Device management is grouped on the top of the case. Of the interesting things: activation of the voice assistant, accept / reject a call, activate the mode of connecting two speakers into one stereo pair (TWS).

On the right, under the rubber plug, there are ports: type C for charging and 3.5 mm for wired connection. Wireless is a priority, and then auto-detection of inputs. There is also a multi-color LED indicator.

Since this model of wireless speakers is certified by the US Federal Communications Commission, and it has been issued a number: FCC ID 2AV3Z-TRIP. We can get acquainted with the filling of the device . The battery uses one 18650 cell with a capacity of 2000 mAh. The sound is emitted by 2″ speakers with a neodymium magnet system, and between them a small passive radiator.

Features of use

There are no annoying voice messages during Trip operation, only sound signals of different tones. There are no problems with connecting to a smartphone via Bluetooth, quickly and without “falling off”. The speaker can receive calls, the microphone is on top, you can hear it well in both directions. The model is not supported by the Tronsmart branded mobile application (there is an equalizer there).

The sound of the Tronsmart Trip is adequate to the size of the body: the emphasis is on the mids and voice frequencies. In the near field, the volume is enough, but 10 W is not quite a guideline, but the maximum power that the speakers digest. And the real electrical power when powered by a single 18650 battery is 3 … 5 watts. If you want a bass sound, the manufacturer has a novelty in a larger caliber – Tronsmart Bang.

Water resistance was tested by abundant watering of acoustics from the shower. Drying is fast, the device then works normally. So the rain in the fresh air is not terrible for her.

The charging current is close to the declared. You can continue to listen while charging, but the process will then be delayed.

Conclusion

Tronsmart Trip is an interesting pocket gadget for outdoor entertainment. Protected from water, does not take up much space and works for a long time on a single charge. Of the shortcomings, I would note the lack of FM radio and the ability to play from USB. But for the low price of acoustics, this can be forgiven.
