VK Play: over 80% of Russians prefer mobile games

The VK Play platform conducted a study and found that the majority of Russians like to play mobile games – 81% of respondents preferred them to PCs and consoles. Of the genres, Russians choose puzzles, board games, racing, shooters, and simulators.

According to Forbes , the VK Play platform interviewed 1,753 mobile, console and PC game lovers aged 15 to 54 living in various Russian regions. Mobile games are loved by 81% of respondents, and this platform was ahead of the competition by a noticeable margin: 66% play on PC, and only 27% of respondents noted consoles. The majority of respondents (58%) also reported that they use paid options – most often it is in-game currency and amplifiers.

Regardless of the platform, the most popular genres among Russians were puzzles with a share of 78%. Decent results were also shown by board games (71%), racing (60%), shooters (59%), as well as simulators (53%). Taking into account the platform, the situation is somewhat different: PC gamers prefer shooters (69%) and racing games (65%). The respondents named genre, free access to the game and the ability to play offline as the main criteria for choosing a new game.

Finally, the authors of the study noted that men like to play more, and on all three platforms – they are 58% among mobile gamers, 66% on PC and 61% among console players.
