Apacer and Zadak announced the world’s first M.2 SSDs with PCIe 5.0 interface. Apacer ‘s new product is called AS2280F5, while Zadak’s drive is called TWSG5. Both have the same characteristics.
The innovations provide very high performance. They are made in accordance with the NVMe 2.0 specification. The declared speed of sequential reading of information reaches 13,000 MB / s, the sequential write speed is 12,000 MB / s. Performance indicators for random writes are not yet specified.
Zadak TWSG5 solid state drives are equipped with two radiators – aluminum and ultra-thin graphene. This allows them to be used in computers of various form factors, including laptops. Apacer devices are also equipped with a cooling radiator, but only a large aluminum one.
It is noted that the new SSDs are backward compatible with M.2 PCIe 4.0 slots, but, of course, they will not be able to provide the declared speed there. All new items come with a five-year warranty. Unfortunately, there is no information on volume options and an estimated price at the moment.
