Today, on May 22, Antwerp, Belgium, hosted the final of PGL Antwerp Major 2022, one of the most important Counter Strike: Global Offensive tournaments. The teams of the Ukrainian organization NAVI and the American FaZe Clan with a European roster fought for the title of champion. The victory with a score of 2:0 on maps was won by the FaZe Clan team. NAVI failed to win the Major for the second time in a row – we recall that in November 2021 the team became the champion of PGL Stockholm Major 2021 .
Teams NAVI and FaZe Clan, after the qualifiers for the spring RMR tournament, immediately entered the Legends stage. In the matches for reaching the Play-off stage, the Ukrainian team did not suffer a single defeat and went out with a score of 3:0. FaZe’s path was slightly longer – this team reached the quarterfinals with a score of 3:1.
In the 1/4 finals, NAVI met with the Danish team Heroic, and yesterday in the 1/2 they played with the Finnish ENCE. In turn, FaZe Clan passed the Swedish Ninjas in Pajamas and the Russian Team Spirit, which has recently been based in Serbia, at the appropriate stages.
Today, the struggle between NAVI and FaZe Clan unfolded on the maps Inferno (FaZe’s choice) and Nuke (Navi’s choice), the matter did not reach the decisive Ancient. The first map ended with a score of 19:17 in favor of FaZe Clan, and the score for the second one was 16:10. Thus, FaZe confirmed the title of the strongest CS:GO team on the planet according to HLTV.
FaZe Clan won $500,000. The Ukrainian team became the silver medalist and received $150,000. The best player of the match and the entire tournament was Howard “rain” Nygaard, who really made a huge contribution to the victory of his team, making 52 kills and earning a rating of 1.49 (ADR – 107 ,nine).
