Logitech has unveiled the MX Master 3S mouse, an updated version of the popular MX Master 3 , as well as a pair of MX Mechanical and MX Mechanical Mini mechanical keyboards that will replace the MX Keys keyboards with better tactile feedback. All three new items will go to retail this month.
Visually, the MX Master 3S is very reminiscent of the MX Master 3. A rather aggressive right-handed design is complemented by a pair of scroll wheels (one for moving up / down, and the other for moving left / right). On the side surface there are three buttons, which can be interacted with using the thumb.
One of the main differences from the previous model is the presence of a sensor with a resolution of 8000 dpi (MX Master 3 uses a sensor with a resolution of 4000 dpi). According to the manufacturer, the left and right buttons of the new mouse are 90% quieter. When you press the mouse button, the tactile sensations are preserved, but the sound is more muffled. Despite having a higher resolution sensor, the mouse is intended for office work rather than gaming, mainly due to its comparatively low 125Hz polling rate.
While the MX Master 3S is aimed at users who prioritize quietness over tactile feel, the new MX Mechanical and MX Mechanical Mini keyboards do just the opposite. Previous performance-focused models in the MX line, such as the MX Keys and MX Keys Mini, featured quiet, soft keys that felt like a laptop.
The new keyboards use Kailh Choc V2 mechanical switches, which can be swapped out for tactile quiet brown switches, louder blues and linear reds. The low profile switches have less travel compared to the full size Cherry MX. Although the switches are low-profile, they offer the advantages of full-size mechanical counterparts, including providing a more pleasant tactile feel and greater reliability.
Both wireless keyboards have good autonomy. The user will get up to 15 days of battery life of the keyboard with activated backlighting and up to 10 months without it. The keyboards are designed with sensors to turn on the backlight when the user’s hands are over the keys, and the built-in USB Type-C interface provides fast recharging.
The presented mouse and keyboards can remember up to three paired devices, to which they connect via Bluetooth or using the included wireless USB adapter, switching between them by pressing the corresponding key. MX Master 3S, MX Mechanical and MX Mechanical Mini will be available this month for $99, $170 and $150 respectively.
