Take-Two Interactive announced in January that it has completed its $12.7 billion acquisition of major mobile and online game developer Zynga.
Zynga was founded in 2007 and since then has managed to achieve 5 billion total downloads of its games in more than 175 countries and regions. Among the company’s largest franchises are FarmVille, Words With Friends and others.
“We are excited to complete our merger with Zynga, which will be a key step in multiplying our earnings from the mobile segment—the fastest growing in interactive entertainment—and will provide us with significant resource synergies and revenue opportunities ,” said Take-Two CEO. Strauss Zelnick.
Zynga CEO Frank Gibeau added that his company is looking forward to “the next generation of mobile platforms, shareware entertainment and diverse games” in its history.
The deal between Take-Two Interactive and Zynga is still considered the largest in the video game industry, but by June 30, 2023, it may lose this title to Microsoft’s takeover of Activision Blizzard for $68.7 billion .
