Meta launches Facebook Reels short videos in Ukraine

Facebook ‘s parent company, Meta Platforms , is launching the Facebook Reels short video service in Ukraine and 150+ other countries. Like Instagram Reels, which have recently appeared in Ukraine , Facebook Reels will feature music, various audio effects, and much more. The update is being rolled out gradually on the server side, so in the coming weeks the feature will become available to all Ukrainian users of the application.

Reels is Meta’s answer to the phenomenally successful TikTok service. Another competing platform, YouTube Shorts, can also be mentioned here – recently the leadership of the most popular video platform decided on an unprecedented step and offered as much as 45% of advertising sales to short video creators.

Back to the topic of news, Facebook Reels short videos will be available for viewing in the news feed, groups, and in the Watch tab. Users will be able to subscribe to content creators immediately while watching a video, swear and comment on content, and share their favorite videos with friends. At the same time, content creators will be able to expand their audience in this way developers pay attention that publications of public (public) Reels allow reaching a larger number of users, and not just current subscribers.

  • Stickers: As with Stories, you can use a “Your Turn” sticker so that another person can record their video response to the user’s existing Reels. A video resulting from a response to another person’s video can be added to the “Add Your Own” tab so that other users can also view this video.
  • Audio: Add songs from Facebook music library to created Reels. You can also use your own original audio by simply recording Reels to it, or use music from other public Reels by selecting the “use audio from another user’s video” option when creating a new video clip.
  • Auto-generated Reels : Previously shared Facebook Stories can now automatically turn into Reels.
  • AR Effects : You can choose from many effects in Facebook’s Augmented Reality (AR) library to add to your own video clips.
  • Timer and countdown: can set a timer to record any video without pressing the record button.
  • Speed Reels : You can speed up or slow down the video while recording.
  • Multiclip: Merge multiple videos into one Reels video clip by recording them together or choosing from the gallery.
  • Remix: You can create a new video clip next to an already published one. A remix allows users to create their own video by adding all or part of another author’s video to it.
  • 60 Second Reels : Reels can last up to 60 seconds.
  • Draft: After creating a video, users can save their video to finish it later with the “Save as Draft” option.
