Recently, there have been rumors about the upgrade of Xiaomi 12 series with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ chip. Now, Xiaomi 12S Pro with a MediaTek Dimensity 9000 processor has been spotted in the MIUI firmware code. It will become the company’s first flagship based on a MediaTek processor. According to xiaomiui, the smartphone appeared in the IMEI database on April 1st with model number 2207122MC. The resource suggests that 2M may mean L2M. Model number L2 belongs to Xiaomi 12 Pro while M could stand for MediaTek.

After that, a study of Mi Code was carried out. Several new codenames were found there, including a device codenamed “damuier”. Researchers of the publication found that under this name a device with the L2M index is hidden and that it is associated with MediaTek codes. So, most likely, this is the Xiaomi 12S Pro based on Dimensity 9000.

According to the site, the smartphone will be released in the second week of August. Most likely, it will only be available in the Chinese market. Information about other characteristics of the device is not yet available.
