She told The Telegraph that she has to repaint and sometimes refill holes in her ceiling every two years due to the “mess” that hanging the decorations on her living room ceiling leaves behind.
“The ceiling is full of holes,” she said. “It’s something I have to put up with if I’m going to put the baubles up.”
The mother-of-four, who has 22 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, said it “takes me so long to put them up” but she insists on doing it herself for fear of breakages.
Mrs Pope has been collecting baubles for more than 30 years, with her favourite bauble being a Royal Doulton Royal Jubilee celebration edition, representing her “love” of the Queen who she thinks is “wonderful”.
She has collected them from all over the world, including memorable trips to Harrods and Macy’s in New York and from her local shops.
“My baubles are my passion,” she said, “I haven’t looked back since 1999 when I started my collection.”
