From 100-passenger superyachts to the biggest cruise ship in the world, there’s a whole host of new arrivals coming to the high seas in 2022.
As well as innovations including submarines, freefall slides and three-level racetracks, there is a revolution going on below decks too, with ships such as Disney Wish, MSC World Europa and Arvia being propelled by liquefied natural gas, the greenest fossil fuel.

The biggest ever: Wonder of the Seas, Royal Caribbean

The latest in a series of Royal Caribbean giants to inherit the title of “the world’s largest cruise ship”, Wonder of the Seas will have eight “neighbourhoods”, including one just for suite guests with their own restaurant, lounge, plunge pool and bar. The Ultimate Family Suite, over two floors with a slide from the bedroom to the living area, will be the grandest yet, able to hold up to 10 people. For those who want a longer ride, the Ultimate Abyss at the back of the ship shoots you down 10 storeys in 13 seconds. After launching in Florida in March, Wonder of the Seas will sail to Barcelona and Rome to spend the summer in Europe.
