Due to open in the Spring, Manzi’s – once of Leicester Street, now at a 1950s former office block known as Bateman’s Buildings – brings a Soho landmark back to life. With an original story linked to postwar London’s most notorious quarter to draw on, expect something of the raffish charm of its illustrious forbear, a roomy seafood restaurant now charged with the affordable yet fun vibe of Corbin & King’s other Soho staple, Brasserie Zedel – with a reservation list to match.

Fresh faces of the party scene

As comfort zones become more intimate, invitations might appear less forthcoming. But be assured, those most in demand will not be denied the place in the spotlight. Winning the no-rsvp-required stakes in 2022 are the Three Graces of the guest A-list: Lila Moss, Stella Jones (daughter of Clash guitarist Mick) and Vivienne Westwood’s granddaughter, Cora Corre (daughter of Agent Provocateur co-founders Joe Corré and Serena Rees), with actor Ben Kingsley-Adir (shortly to star alongside Samuel L Jackson, Olivia Colman and Emelia Clarke in the Disney+ in the Marvel miniseries Secret Invasion) not far behind.

The new Riviera to weekend

Shortly before the pandemic disrupted all our flight plans, frequent flyers became frustrated by the temporary closure of Milan’s Linate Airport – a 15-minute drive from the centre of Italy’s fashion capital. The result? Everyone discovered Malpensa, the global hub on its northern outskirts, and the perfect jumping off point for the Italian lakes, in particular Como. Suddenly, weekends were no longer about queuing outside Gucci, but discovering the ‘new Riviera’, a tranquil setting disturbed only by the roar of the occasional Riva (or an unexpected sighting of George Clooney).
