UN Secretary General António Guterres arrived in Kyiv on April 27 to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to negotiate humanitarian aid.
Guterres stressed that the war in Ukraine must end as soon as possible.
The UN Secretary General wrote about this on the Web.
“We continue our work to expand humanitarian assistance and ensure the evacuation of civilians from conflict zones. The sooner the war ends, the better for Ukraine, Russia and the world ,” the message says.
On April 26, Guterres met with Russian President Vladimir Putin. After the meeting, the official website of the UN reported that the President of the Russian Federation agreed in principle to the participation of the organization , together with the Red Cross, in the evacuation of civilians from Azovstal in Mariupol.
However, already on April 27, the speaker of the President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Peskov, denied such an agreement .
