US President Joe Biden said that the words of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov about the alleged direct participation of NATO in the war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine are evidence of the desperation of the aggressor state.
Biden stressed that Ukraine is being helped so that it can defend itself.
The American leader said this in an address on the situation in Ukraine on April 28.
“Of course, this (Lavrov’s statement – ed.) worries me. Because it shows the desperation that Russia is now experiencing, because they essentially really failed. Therefore, they make such statements that this is allegedly already a conflict with NATO. But it’s really just a big reflection. It’s just a testament to their defeat, their failure,” the US President said.
“We are helping the Ukrainians with military help so that the Ukrainians can resist. Accordingly, now they (the Russians – ed.) claim that the United States and all NATO member countries are also involved in this war. This is just an excuse for their defeat ,” Biden added.
He also stressed that making such statements is stupid on the part of the Russian Federation and no one should make frivolous statements about the use of nuclear weapons.
Recall, Lavrov said that the weapons supplied by the West to Ukraine would be a target for the Russian armed forces, and also that the introduction of NATO troops into Ukraine would lead to the Third World War. The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry also called the real risk of nuclear war.
