Bruno Fernandes has been included in Manchester United’s squad to face Liverpool despite being involved in a car crash on Monday morning.

Fernandes, 27, was on his way to training at United’s Carrington base when his Porsche was involved in a collision with another car.

The United midfielder avoided injury and it is understood that the other parties involved in the crash also emerged unscathed.

Pictures emerged from the scene showing damage to the driver’s side of Fernandes’ £90,000 Porsche Panamera.

A second car could be seen mounted on a pavement next to a damaged fence. The front drivers’ wheel on the Volkswagen was mangled and there also appeared to be damage to the bonnet, which was popped open. Debris was scattered across the road.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said firefighters attended a road traffic collision between two cars on School Lane, Dunham Massey, Altrincham at around 9.45am on Monday.

“Firefighters made both vehicles safe and were at the scene for around three quarters of an hour,” the spokesperson added.

Despite the crash, Fernandes still joined up with his United team-mates at Carrington. He was later given a lift home by Juan Mata, with Ralf Rangnick, the interim manager, confirming the Portuguese would be in the squad to face Liverpool.

“He’s training with the team, obviously the accident happened on the way to Carrington but as far as I know nobody was injured,” Rangnick said. “He trained with the team, he was okay and will be okay for tomorrow.”
