British Deputy Secretary of Defense James Gippi said in parliament on Tuesday that Britain would be able to hand over anti-ship missiles “Brimstone” to Ukraine in the next few weeks.
Last week, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said Britain was finding out on which platforms these missiles could be delivered to Ukraine, including exploring the possibility of installing them on cars.
And now, according to James Gippi, Britain has made enough progress in these experiments to claim that it will hand over the missiles to the Ukrainians in the coming weeks.
Self-propelled missiles “Brimstone” are usually used from aircraft. They are designed to defeat both maritime and land targets. Range of missiles of the first model – up to 20 km, the second modification – up to 60 km.
From the beginning they were planned to be used on the principle of “shot and forgot” against mass accumulations of enemy armored vehicles.
The cost of one such missile is estimated at 263 thousand dollars.
As it became known earlier, during his speech in the City of London on Wednesday, the British Foreign Secretary Liz Trass intends to call on Western countries to double their support for Kyiv and, in particular, to supply Ukraine with promised heavy weapons, including tanks and planes.
Trass wants to call on depriving President Putin of the opportunity to declare victory in Ukraine and use the war as a catalyst to establish a new world order.
