The National Bank informed where to apply for the exchange, what needs to be done and how much will be reimbursed.
The National Bank of Ukraine reported that hryvnia banknotes significantly damaged due to the fire can be donated for research to compensate for losses.
This was reported by the press service of the NBU.
To do this, you need to contact the regional divisions of monetary circulation of the National Bank of Ukraine, which today work in Dnepropetrovsk, Odessa, Khmelnytsky and Lvov regions.
However, the NBU warns that you should first call the relevant regional monetary unit and find out if the unit is working in your city in the coming days.
If there is no monetary circulation unit of the National Bank of Ukraine in your region, you need to contact authorized banks (Oshchadbank, Privatbank, Raiffeisen Bank, FUIB).
Together with damaged banknotes, it is necessary to provide a certificate of fire, catastrophe, occurrence of another situation (if any) or indicate in the application the situation as a result of which the banknotes were damaged.
It is not recommended to independently violate the integrity of banknotes if damage to two or more banknotes has led to their gluing (sintering).
“Authorized banks do not examine significantly damaged banknotes, but pack them with maximum integrity and transfer them as doubtful for examination to the National Bank of Ukraine along with the bearer’s statement, a certificate of withdrawal (acceptance) of banknotes for examination and a certificate of fire, catastrophe, the occurrence of another situations (if any),” the statement reads.
Clients are reimbursed for the amount of banknotes of the national currency that are found by NBU specialists from an integral group of damaged banknotes, with payment signs lost as a result of a fire, but without signs of forgery.
