US President Joe Biden said he would ask Congress for an additional $33 billion for Ukraine.
In his video message, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky told how these funds could be spent.
In total, 33 billion dollars are planned to be spent on the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and humanitarian aid. Also, the funds will go to support the Ukrainian economy, which has suffered from a hostile Russian invasion.
“The United States has prepared a new $33 billion support package for Ukraine. In particular, more than $20 billion can go to defense, more than $8 billion are planned for economic support, and another $3 billion will go to humanitarian aid. This is a very important step for the United States, and I am grateful for it to the American people and personally to President Joe Biden. I hope that Congress will quickly support the request for assistance to our state,” Zelensky said.
The President also added that this is not a cheap step for the United States. However, the negative consequences of Russian aggression will be much greater for the whole world if we do not help now.
“President Biden quite rightly said today that this step is not cheap, but the negative consequences for the whole world from Russian aggression against Ukraine and against democracy are so massive that, compared to them, this US support is necessary. Together, we can definitely stop Russian aggression and reliably protect freedom of Europe,” Zelensky added.
Recall that earlier Volodymyr Zelensky spoke about the food potential of Ukraine . He noted that Ukrainian exports can stabilize the global food market.
