President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukrainian exports can stabilize the global food market.
Russia continues to provoke a food crisis.
Zelensky said this at a briefing following a meeting with UN Secretary General António Guterres.
“Today we also talked about an important challenge not only for Ukraine, but for the whole world – the food crisis, which is provoked by Russia by continuing the war against our state. Ukraine literally provides bread for almost 400 million people on the planet, and even now the UN recognizes that rising food prices this year will lead to hunger for at least 47 million people in 81 countries. We have sufficient potential to prevent such a food crisis and stabilize the food market. There are all goods to be delivered from our ports in Odessa, Nikolaev, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. But part of Russia’s aggressive policy, Russia’s aggressive war against our state, is the blockade of our ports. As well as the destruction of our production base, conscious for the Russian army, their steps in this direction, in particular the destruction of our agricultural base,” Zelensky said.
Recall that the Russian invaders shelled Kiev during the visit of UN Secretary General António Guterres.
