About 100,000 residents of Mariupol who still remain in the blocked city are in mortal danger not only because of shelling, but also unbearable living conditions and unsanitary conditions.
Temperatures are rising in the region. It is because of the warming and heat in the city that powerful and deadly epidemics can break out. Among them are cholera, dysentery and E. coli.
This was stated by Mayor Vadim Boychenko, according to the press service of the city council.
In addition, the humanitarian situation in the city is now difficult. Lack of centralized water supply and sanitation, as well as lack of drinking water and food, can lead to serious illnesses. And under the rubble there are many corpses that will begin to decompose.
“The occupiers are not able to provide the existing population with food, water and medicines. Or they are simply not interested in it. They block all attempts to evacuate, and without it, people will die. After all, now in the destroyed Mariupol, living conditions are medieval. An immediate and complete evacuation is needed,” – said Vadim Boychenko.
As reported, since Tuesday, April 26, the Russian occupiers have banned entry to the besieged Mariupol from Novoazovsk. The city is closed to citizens of Ukraine. It is impossible to get into it without a certificate of passing the filtration. At the same time, Russians and residents of the so-called “Donetsk People’s Republic” receive permission to enter without filtering for three days.
