President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on the visit of UN Secretary General António Guterres to Kyiv.
The head of state considers the UN Secretary General’s visit to Borodyanka near Kyiv especially important.
Zelensky said this in his video message on the evening of April 28.
“It is very important that Mr. Secretary General visited Borodyanka, Kyiv region. And he saw with his own eyes what the Russian invaders did there. Hundreds of Ukrainian cities and hundreds of communities experienced the same as Borodyanka and Bucha,” he said.
The President emphasized that the Russian army in Ukraine “deliberately and without a doubt” trampled on the foundation of the global world order founded after the Second World War.
“The UN Charter, international conventions, declarations, the rights of people and states… Everything that should guarantee freedom and security in the world has been simply destroyed by Russian aggressive actions,” the head of state said.
The key issue in the negotiations by the UN Secretary General Zelensky called the stop of Russian aggression.
“And this is not just a question about Ukraine, about our fate. This is a question about the fate of the UN, the fate of international law, the fate of many peoples – and not only Russia’s neighbors, who may become the next victims of Moscow’s aggressive imposition,” the president believes.
Zelensky drew attention to the fact that immediately after the completion of negotiations with Guterres in Kiev, five Russian missiles flew into the city.
“And this says a lot about Russia’s true attitude towards global institutions. About the attempts of the Russian leadership to humiliate the UN and everything that the Organization represents. This means that this requires a correspondingly powerful reaction,” he summed up.
Earlier, Volodymyr Zelensky announced plans to send the blocked assets of the Russians to the restoration of Ukraine .
