Putin’s speaker believes that the Ukrainian defenders of Mariupol should lay down their arms and surrender.
Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov reacted to the statement of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky that Kiev is ready for urgent negotiations on the evacuation of people from Azovstal in occupied Mariupol.
This is reported by the Russian agency TASS.
According to him, the Kremlin does not see a topic for negotiations, since Russian President Vladimir Putin previously announced the conditions: civilians can freely leave the territory of Azovstal, and the military must lay down their arms and surrender in order to save their lives.
“What could be the subject of negotiations in this case?” Peskov summed up.
During a meeting with UN Secretary General António Guterres, President Zelensky said that Ukraine was ready for negotiations on the evacuation of people from Azovstal.
Before visiting Kyiv, Guterres held talks in Moscow with Putin, during which the evacuation of people from Azovstal was discussed.
Recall that earlier the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov denied the UN information about its joint participation with the International Committee of the Red Cross in the evacuation of civilians from the Azovstal plant in Mariupol.
