A mother of many children does not hold back her tears when she remembers that she spent almost a month in the basement with her children. Their house is 3 kilometers from Sumy, and under the windows there is a field where there were Russian tanks. “We saw tanks, we saw orcs with red armbands, they stood there every day, as they entered in the morning, they stuck their banners. When they tried to break into the city in the field and rushed in our direction, we stood with axes and pitchforks,” says Valentina Stroy.

After the atrocities in the Kiev region, my mother was more worried about the girls, she has eight of them and one son. In the basement, they prepared to defend themselves with forks and screwdrivers in their hands. “If it were necessary to go hand-to-hand, then we would all go, everyone had screwdrivers in their hands! And the knives and everything was in the basement. We were ready to defend ourselves to the last. Do not be afraid and beat, do not be afraid of blood, death, because you cannot passively lie down and wait, but you need to fight to the last for your life, ”says the mother of the children.

To see how the children cry all the time, the mother could not. They left the house as soon as they could. However, on the way to a safe place, they got into an accident. A truck with children was run over by a truck at night before a railway crossing. “A concussion, a bruise, it was very lucky that the truck crashed into a small car and everyone survived,” the family says.

“My children were sitting in the back, in that minibus, we thought that we were being bombed. Then Liza screams like that, they went out, they thought they were dead. Thank God, people immediately accepted at night,” the woman says.

Now the family is safe in the Lviv region. The eldest son with his injured family is in the hospital, but everyone is alive and for the first time they slept peacefully without explosions. “It was hard to leave, you know, how a leaf came off a tree and carries it somewhere, and you don’t know where it carries it,” the mother of the children adds.

In addition to themselves, the family saved the guinea pig Shusha, Vinnie the rat, and four more dogs, which the children took out on their knees. Now the dogs live in a greenhouse, where their children all visit together, but they don’t let Shusha out of their hands.

In the Lviv region, the family was surrounded by care from volunteers and philanthropists. The children were especially happy that the roads here were not mined, so they confidently master the videos. But every day everyone dreams of one thing, no matter where fate throws them next. “Home. We will only return home,” says one of the daughters.
