The United States will not allow Russia to avoid the consequences of aggression in Ukraine using oil and gas.
Europe and the world must switch to clean energy.
This was tweeted by US President Joe Biden.
“Yesterday Russia threatened two of our allies with cutting off energy supplies. I will say clearly: we will not allow Russia to resort to intimidation or blackmail to avoid sanctions. And we will not allow it to use oil to avoid the consequences of its aggression,” Biden wrote.
The US is working with other countries, notably South Korea, Japan and Qatar, to help European allies threatened by Russia with gas blackmail, he said.
Earlier it became known that ten companies in the European Union opened ruble accounts with Gazprombank.
At the same time, it has recently become known that Gazprom has completely suspended gas supplies to Bulgarian and Polish operators due to non-payment in rubles.
At the same time, a Bloomberg source close to Gazprom said that, at least until the second half of May, the Kremlin will not turn off other countries that refuse Putin’s conditions. At this time, the following payments must be made, on which the further fate of gas supplies to Europe will actually depend.
The European Commission has warned EU members that buying Russian gas for rubles is a violation of sanctions.
It should be noted that at present Russia supplies gas through pipelines to 23 European countries.
