The Russian team Virtus.pro was disqualified from the Dota 2 esports tournament due to the fact that its participant drew the letter Z on the mini-map.

It is known that Russian Ivan Moskalenko (Pure) drew a letter during a pause in the game . This was immediately noticed by the commentator of the match , and the team’s players sketched Z in a few seconds. Later, the Russian apologized for his act and stated that the drawing was accidental . However, this did not save him from disqualification of the team.
“When we realized what happened to me, we immediately began to gloss over. I didn’t want to offend anyone or somehow offend. It happened somehow unconsciously. Peace to all,” the guy justified.
Following the incident, Russian esports team Virtus.pro terminated Moskalenko’s contract . The club noted that they were “shocked by the severity of the punishment” because of the drawing .
Recall that rashism in Russia touched even Easter. There, pasques are decorated with a white Z on green icing.
