Florists even managed to deceive genetics and created flowers that are contrary to nature.
In support of Ukraine, a local company has grown tulips of the same name, and in the largest park in the country, lawns with sunny and heavenly flowers have become the most popular photo zones, according to TSN .
Fields around Amsterdam – from where three-quarters of the world’s tulips disperse around the planet, now in blue and yellow colors. Visitors do not hide that they agree with such support for Ukraine. “We are constantly thinking about Ukraine – and we are very worried about you. Please keep fighting,” the visitors say.
The largest botanical garden in the Netherlands – seven million bulbs that are blooming now, were planted here in the fall. But as if already then they felt that Ukraine would need support, the local fields had never seen such a quantity of blue and yellow. Flowerbeds, as if creeping, are called rivers in Keukenhof – blue streams with yellow banks this year are the trend of the season. Blue relatives of asparagus, more commonly referred to as hyacinths, were among the first to bloom. There are seventy thousand of them here.
It is impossible to achieve the same effect not with hyacinths and daffodils, but with tulips. Red, purple – as much as you like, but the blue color in the DNA of a tulip is absent.
But in Peter’s office, flowers break the rules of genetics – yellow and blue at the same time. A variety called Ukraine can only be removed in vases – not in the fields. “In nature, these flowers were white. And then we did a trick – it is impossible to see the process, we keep it a secret – this is magic, ”says the man.
Tulips drunk with colored water became the stars of a charity auction held by Dutch flower growers in support of Ukraine. Peter says he’s constantly asked for new varieties of bulbs now. But here it is up to geneticists to once such fields bloom blue-yellow.
