Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Olga Stefanishyna said that at the meeting of the leaders of the EU member states in June, Ukraine will be granted the status of a candidate member of the EU.
Brussels has already processed part of the documents submitted by Ukraine (questionnaire) and the work of the authorities was highly appreciated.
The Deputy Prime Minister said this live on the air of the general information marathon UA at once on Ukrainian TV channels.
She clarified that the EU highly appreciated the work of the Ukrainian side with documents related to the political component, democratic institutions, human rights and reforms. Stefanishyna also said that by the end of next week, Ukraine plans to transfer the book of statehood to the European Union.
The Deputy Prime Minister stressed that Ukraine expects to receive the status of a candidate member of the EU in June.
“We expect that when EU leaders meet again in June this year, a decision will be made to grant Ukraine candidate status ,” Stefanyshina said.
She added that today negotiations are ongoing with various EU countries and a serious break is taking place, so those countries that were skeptical or are about the European perspective of Ukraine will change their position.
Recall, on April 18, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced that he had handed over a completed questionnaire to the head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine, Matti Maasikas, to obtain the status of a candidate for EU membership.
After that, the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, said that the European Commission would express its position on granting Ukraine the status of a candidate for EU membership by the end of June.
