Design Galaxy Fit E

Over the appearance of the Galaxy Fit E in Samsung obviously did not think for a long time. In appearance, it vaguely resembles a smaller copy of Gear Fit 2 Pro . In black, the eye has nothing to catch on, everything is very simple and minimalistic. Fortunately, in addition to modest black, there are bright yellow and stylish white on sale. In addition, the strap in the bracelet is interchangeable, so it will be possible to diversify its appearance in the future.

The case of the bracelet is plastic, the clasp is also plastic, the strap is rubber. The display is covered with plastic, which is quickly covered with scratches. In just a week of use, the display was covered with a grid of small scratches that are clearly visible when looking at it on a sunny day. So practicality is not the strongest side of the Galaxy Fit E.

The convenience of use

With a weight of only 15 grams, the bracelet is not felt on the hand. Its edges are rounded, so it does not cling to the cuffs of clothes. The strap also did not cause discomfort, it is soft, pleasant to the touch. You quickly get used to the bracelet and there is no particular desire to remove it. The clasp also turned out to be reliable, despite the fact that it is plastic, its design is very reliable and the bracelet has never been undone during use.

Display

The bracelet is equipped with a small monochrome PMOLED display with a diagonal of 0.74 inches and a resolution of 128×64. The display is not touch-sensitive; a single tap on the case is used to scroll through the menu items. The display is monochrome, all information is displayed in white. In direct sunlight, the screen noticeably fades and it is very difficult to make out anything on it.

Functionality

The list of Galaxy Fit E features is standard for fitness trackers in this class: tracking the number of steps taken, tracking sleep, displaying notifications, weather forecast and calendar events. The bracelet is equipped with an optical heart rate monitor, it can measure the pulse around the clock. Galaxy Fit E can also automatically detect the type of physical activity – walking and running. Moreover, in the first case, he shares episodic short-term movements and long-term walking, and regards it as a workout. There are no problems with running either, the bracelet accurately notices the beginning of a run, despite the fact that there is no GPS in it. And despite this, he accurately calculates the pace. True, for greater accuracy in measuring the duration, it is better to complete the workout by double tapping on the display itself.

There are no complaints about the accuracy of tracking steps and sleep either. Other movements are not counted as steps, the transition to sleep and exit from it is also tracked correctly. The bracelet has an alarm clock, but it is simple and will wake you up at a strictly specified time. The strength of the vibration in the bracelet is tangible, it is always noticeable. There are no complaints about the accuracy of the heart rate monitor, it is comparable to a higher-level sports watch. True, while running, the pulse is displayed on the display in a very small font, which is very difficult to make out even standing still and looking closely, not to mention running.

Notifications are displayed in the form of an application icon and the beginning of text. The full text of the message will not be displayed, only part of the recipient’s name. The Samsung Galaxy Wear app is used for synchronization.

autonomy

Galaxy Fit E is equipped with a 70 mAh battery, the claimed battery life is 7 days. But in fact, with the heart rate monitor turned on, the bracelet works for only 5 days, which is very small compared to competitors in this price category. A full charge of the bracelet takes approximately 1.5 hours from a proprietary charger.

Pros: heart rate monitor and sports functions work, comfortable strap

Cons: autonomy, control, visibility of the display in the sun

Conclusion: The Samsung Galaxy Fit E is a fairly simple fitness tracker with basic features. Of the frank shortcomings of the model, only modest autonomy and visibility of the display in the sun can be distinguished. Otherwise, Galaxy Fit E in combination with some bright strap is quite suitable for the role of a fitness tracker for every day. True, it will have to be charged a little more often than we would like.
