The combination of a meat grinder and a vegetable cutter in one device has long become mainstream. Indeed, why produce entities? Another such hybrid, Redmond RMG-1241-6, came to us for testing. The device is equipped with a meat grinder attachment, attachments for making sausages and kebbe, as well as a vegetable cutting unit with two graters and a shredder.

Equipment
The box is decorated in a typical Redmond style with elements of a modern agenda: instead of a languid beauty, a smiling bearded man looks at us. We also see an image of the meat grinder itself and the three grater attachments attached to it. The technical data of the device and descriptions of the functions of the nozzles are placed on the side faces of the box, the information is duplicated in English.

At first sight
The case of Redmond RMG-1241-6 has a classic trapezoid shape. There are two control buttons on the front panel, the nozzle attachment point is on the left side, the nozzle lock button is on top, under the handle, for which the case is easy to carry. The engine block is very light – 1840
The nozzle socket is plastic, the shaft is metal. The nozzles are fixed on the shaft with a bayonet type connection.
Ventilation openings and a nameplate with technical information are located below. The device is equipped with four legs suction cups for strong adhesion to the surface of the table.
The body of the meat grinder attachment, auger and nut are made of light aluminum alloy – silumin. All parts are qualitatively processed, the surfaces are smooth, without notches and traces of burr. The length of the body is only 10 cm, so the sponge will easily wash off all the dirt.
Stainless steel gratings are small, 5 cm in diameter. Holes in one – 4.8 mm, in the second – 7 mm. The miniature knife is also steel. We had some doubts about its sharpening, but before the tests we will not jump to conclusions.
The tray is fixed on the meat grinder feed opening, which will allow it not to move or rotate around the nozzle during operation.
Nozzles for making sausages and kebbe are traditionally plastic.
The nozzle for cutting vegetables and other products is a separate body with a pusher and a metal cylinder, which grinds food while rotating. The size of the loading opening is 5 × 5 cm – a large carrot or a quarter of an apple can easily fit into it. To fix the grater inside the body, simply align the holes on the bottom of the cylinder with the protrusions on the body shaft.
Disassembly
Traditionally, we are not limited to evaluating the appearance of a meat grinder – we are also interested in its inner world. Under the plastic housing there is a motor block with a gearbox and a control electronics board. We did not find information about power on the motor marking.
The gearbox consists of five plastic gears.
The internal content of the Redmond RMG-1241-6 is fully consistent with its appearance: it is a simple device from the middle (or even lower) price category.
Instruction
The instruction manual contains information in three languages. The text part is preceded by a kind of comic: the pictures will tell you how to assemble / disassemble the device and wash its parts. This is followed by standard sections: a description of the device, safety measures, a meat grinder diagram with the names of individual parts, recommendations for preparation, operating and maintenance rules.
In general, everything is very simple and only a complete neophyte will find something new for himself in the manual. A single study of the brochure is enough for trouble-free operation with the device.
Control
The two buttons that control the device are located at the bottom of the front panel of the motor unit. The top button starts, and when pressed again, stops the rotation of the auger. The button below turns on the reverse mode.
Reverse, i.e. shaft rotation in the opposite direction, should be started after the motor has completely stopped. The auger rotates only when the button is pressed. After 10-15 seconds, you can release the button and after the motor stops, press “On / Off” to continue working.
Exploitation
Before the first use, we, as usual, washed all removable parts and wiped the meat grinder body with a damp cloth.
The motor block is not bulky, it is easy to carry (in every sense): both the handle is to help, and the weight is very small. The assembly of the meat grinder is simple: the nozzle is inserted into the socket and secured by turning it counterclockwise, the main thing is not to forget to press the button on the upper surface of the body.
Redmond RMG-1241-6 proved to be the most common home meat grinder. Minced meat is made even from complex meat, but not very quickly, although, given the miniature size of the meat grinder attachment and its components, productivity can even be called high. Shreds vegetables. Noisy, but within reason. Suction cup feet keep the case from vibrating and moving even during the most intense work.
The reverse function was not useful to us, even sinewy meat slipped through without problems. We also did not encounter engine overloads or case heating. There was a minimum of waste left behind the knife – mostly tendons.
In general, the meat grinder does its job well, but there was a feeling of some fragility during operation: the plastic case and the plastic drive shaft coupling seem to hint to us that this is not the device that should be bought if frequent processing of large volumes of product is planned.
Care
Cleaning rules are standard: all plastic parts, including the shredder attachment, can be washed in the dishwasher at a temperature not exceeding 60 ° C. All metal accessories are hand-washed with a non-abrasive detergent and a sponge. The housing should be wiped with a damp cloth. Do not use chemically aggressive detergents, abrasive pastes or metal brushes for cleaning.
Our measurements
We recorded the maximum power when processing stringy beef – 435 watts. Grinding soft pork ham required less effort: a maximum of 339 watts.
practice tests
Standard testing according to iXBT.com methodology
The technique involves grinding on a grate with an average hole diameter of a chilled boneless pork ham, freed from films. Thus, we will check how much meat the device can grind in one minute.
Under the rumble of the reducer, pieces of pork were captured by the auger and came out of the grate in the form of even minced meat sausages. We did not notice any delays or excessive squeezing of the meat, it is chopped evenly and medium-sized.
After disassembling the neck behind the knife, they found some unground raw materials.
Only 13 grams.
It turned out that there was no meat there – just a long, strong vein.
The iXBT.com performance factor for the Redmond RMG-1241-6 was found to be 0.98 kg/min.
And in terms of quality, a very worthy result, but we still doubted the knife.
veiny beef
To test the meat grinder for strength, we took beef with a high content of veins. The largest and thickest ones were cut off, but the device still had something to work on. Used a grate with large holes.
The meat grinder worked loudly as usual, but sometimes, apparently, at the most tense moments, it calmed down. It took her 40 seconds to make a pound of meat. Despite the complexity of the raw materials, the stuffing came out excellent. But the device was clearly not easy: we smelled a strong smell of burnt plastic.
They removed the nut and found something behind the knife.
On closer examination, something turned out to be large and completely unnecessary for us residential. The meat is completely minced.
Result: excellent.
radish salad
Using an electric grater, you can cook a salad in a couple of tens of seconds, which we will do.
We cut three small radishes into quarters and chopped for a total of about half a minute. Sometimes I had to interrupt and pull out the compacted chips from the grater. But what upset us more was that the chopped radish scattered on the sides of the bowl and lay down like a ruler.
Taking out the grater with some effort, they found an unground plate on it.
The radish was chopped on a coarse grater, and the carrots got small. It took 6 seconds to make a large carrot. Another five seconds – to collect scattered chips from the table.
There is no waste here anymore: on the outside of the grater there is only chopped carrots.
Result: good.
shredder
Shreds Redmond RMG-1241-6 with very thin slices of 1-1.5 mm. Quite a bit fell into the bowl – again I had to pick out the cucumber mugs from the grater.
Result: excellent.
findings
The meat grinder Redmond RMG-1241-6, despite its outward simplicity, did an excellent job with all the tests, mastering even complex sinewy beef. The vegetables were grated and chopped with almost no residue. You can diversify the menu with the help of nozzles for cooking sausages and kebbe. The motor block stands firmly on the suction cups and does not move when you press the buttons. All attachments are easy to connect and just as easy to remove.
But it was not without its downsides. First of all, we noted the budget materials from which the body and nozzles are made. In addition, during the processing of complex meat, an unpleasant smell of burning very quickly appears.
In general, Redmond RMG-1241-6 is a rather multifunctional meat grinder for an ordinary , not burdened by special culinary delights. That is just for most ordinary users.
