Due to the shelling of the peaceful cities of Ukraine by the Russian army, not only people, but also animals are in danger. Therefore, you need to know how to help them.
The UAnimals team on their Instagram told how to provide first aid to injured animals.
“First of all, you need to wash the wound with clean water.
In case of severe bleeding , it can be stopped as follows:
apply a pressure bandage (sterile gauze or bandage should be folded several times, moistened with hydrogen peroxide, put a layer of cotton wool on top and applied to the wound, tightly bandaging the wounded limb);
apply a tourniquet (should be used only for severe bleeding. The tourniquet is always applied above the bleeding site and for no longer than 1.5 hours);
press the vessels with your fingers (effective for small venous and capillary bleeding, when a blood flow is formed and the wound is sealed).
For a broken limb:
you need to apply a splint (ruler / pencil / stick, etc., but after rewinding it with a bandage so as not to damage the soft tissues);
the tire must be tightly bandaged with improvised material: a tie, a scarf, a belt, a rope, an elastic bandage;
remember: in case of fractures of the femur, one splint should be placed on the inner, and the second on the outer surface of the hind limb. If the fracture is open and the bone is visible, first apply a sterile dressing to the wound, and then a splint.
If you see an exhausted animal , give it a drink and feed it. Animal rights activists advise starting to feed an exhausted animal with a small amount of food.
After providing first aid, be sure to take the animal to the veterinarian and find an opportunity to take care of its future fate. Or contact us, we will be able to transport the animal to the clinic.
Remember, if you see an animal that at first glance needs help, do not pass by, because you can be his only chance for life,” the recommendations of UAnimals say.
Recall that earlier animal rights activists told how to help an exhausted animal on the street .
