In a review of Moshi cases, I mentioned a car phone holder from the same manufacturer that supports wireless charging. I must say right away that the accessory will be of interest not only to owners of Moshi cases, since two types of magnetic holders are provided in the kit. Some are designed for Moshi cases, while others are suitable for owners of accessories from other manufacturers.
Let’s prepare the case
First, let me tell you how it all works. In general, everything is simple: you need a case with fasteners and a magnetic holder. Moreover, the mounts are not included in the delivery of the case, but they can be found in the package with the Moshi car holder.
Two metal strips need to be placed in a case, after which you can put your phone in it. But this applies to covers of the old type. The new holders are already built into the case and there is no need to place additional elements in the case.
If you have a case of a different brand, then you need to stick a large magnetic plate on the back of the case, and the “ruler” type tool included in the kit is useful for precise positioning. I don’t know about you, but I don’t like the idea of u200bu200bgluing the plate on the outside of the case at all.
We put the holder
You can place the phone both on a plastic holder, which you hang on the deflector in a convenient place, and on a stand with a suction cup, fixing it on the glass. The leg rotates 180° vertically, plus you can adjust the comfortable position by changing the angle of inclination.
The holder is firmly fixed on the deflector, and the magnets firmly hold the smartphone – tested on a heavy iPhone 12 Pro Max. True, I did not drive on serious off-road, but there are also enough pits on Moscow roads after the winter. The phone mount can be rotated: if desired, you can place your smartphone not only vertically, but also horizontally.
Magnetic mount is good, but wireless charging is even better. Moshi SnapTo comes with a USB Type-C cable 1.2 meters long, which is connected on one side to the holder, and on the other – to the USB port of the machine, if provided. If not, then you will have to get a cigarette lighter adapter. Wireless charging outputs up to 10 watts.
Everything seems to be great, but there is a nuance. If you’re used to using your phone as an audio source by wired CarPlay or Android Auto, then the whole idea is lost. However, if you have wireless CarPlay or simply do not use CarPlay in principle, then this method has the right to life.
Conclusion
Universal car mount Moshi SnapTo costs 7590 rubles. For this money, we get a phone holder with a wireless Qi-charging function and a USB Type-C cable, as well as a set of magnets. Moshi case not included and sold separately.
In my opinion, the accessory is specific in the sense that if you do not use a Moshi case, you are unlikely to be interested in a car holder.
In the same case, if you need a phone mount in the car for a Moshi accessory with wireless charging and you don’t mind the price, then you should know that such a device is also on sale.
