Samsung introduced the Galaxy S22 series, where the Galaxy S22 Ultra became the titular model. This time, “ultra” has experienced significant transformation both externally and internally. This is due to the merger of the Galaxy S and Galaxy Note, thanks to which the Galaxy S22 Ultra received an S Pen stylus compartment on the bottom. Because of this, the display format has changed: the new product has a Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9, while its predecessor had a 20:9 screen. The design has also changed, which contains references to the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. The stylus, by the way, is black in all versions, only the cap is different.
News in development
Unlike most competitors, Samsung remains true to the 108-megapixel main camera. Like a year ago, it is complemented by a 12-megapixel wide autofocus lens, as well as two 10-megapixel telephoto lenses for 3x and 10x optical zoom, respectively. In place and a 40-megapixel front camera in the hole in the center of the 120-Hz display. Also, an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner is mounted on the screen, and the frequency of the touch sensor is increased to 240 Hz in game mode.
Returning to the camera, Samsung is focusing on a new approach to photo processing that combines both binned (12MP) and unbinned (108MP) 108MP camera images, which should increase the clarity and detail of the final image). In addition, a new Night Solution mode has been introduced (an algorithm for continuous shooting with subsequent sorting of unsuccessful images and improving the best result). There is a version of this technology for video shooting, which will now be better both in automatic and in Pro mode (by the way, it now works on all cameras, including two telephoto cameras). Also included is the Expert RAW feature, which Samsung fans have already praised with the Galaxy S21 Ultra.
Other specs include a 4nm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 or Exynos 2200 chipset (depending on region), AKG stereo speakers, ruggedized glass and metal case, 5000mAh battery with support for 45W charging, and Android 12 with One UI 4.1. Samsung boasted a special cooling system, where the vapor chamber was redesigned and placed in an unusual way, which should have a good effect on the level of heating and throttling. We also note the UWB module, which allows you to safely use a contactless key for the lock.
The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is available in four main colors: black, white, green and burgundy. The maximum version includes 12 GB of RAM (16 GB, apparently, turned out to be excessive), and the amount of internal memory reaches 1 TB in the top edition. Prices start at 1249 euros. Pre-order will be open today, February 9, and the start of sales is scheduled for February 25.
